Affordable Hair - 3 Tips for Buying a High Quality Wig on a Budget

If you’re looking for an affordable wig, there are a few things to consider before making your choice. High quality wigs are usually pricey, but there is such a thing as great hair on a budget. When deciding on a new wig, you might be tempted to go for the cheaper option only based on your budget, but take a look around at what your options are before you do.

Lower quality wigs might seem like a steal, but getting a wig that sheds hair often or just doesn’t last as long as high quality hair, isn’t ideal. Here are three (3) tips for buying a high quality wig on a budget.

Wig Type

There are a few wig types to choose from, like lace and headband wigs. Those that clip in or aren’t too complicated to install are usually more affordable than the lace and glue options. That doesn’t mean that they’re worse or better, but if you’re a beginner to wigs, choosing a wig that doesn’t use glue or lace is going to be your best option.

Most wigs that don’t use glue or lace are usually secured by clips or by an adjustable headband. These make it easy to install and to get just the right fit. If you’re looking for a high quality human hair wig that’s an affordable option to lace or glue wigs, clip in or headband wigs are a great place to start.

Wig Texture, Density and Length

Consider trying a wig of a shorter length if your budget won’t allow for longer. According to the shape of your face, a shorter wig may be just the style you need to try out. Bob cuts are actually really cute on round faces.

That being said, curly wigs usually appear shorter, so be prepared to pay about the same for longer straight wigs. If you’re going to try a curly or kinky textured wig, a lower density would actually be more natural looking than a higher density. Wig density refers to the thickness of a wig and can be the difference between a realistic and full look or a thinner head of hair.

Wig Maintenance and Install

Affordability in hair extends to installation and maintenance as well. Choosing a wig that’s easy to install will save you time and money on professional installs. Having a wig that you can install on your own that looks amazing is one way to save on someone else's labor.

It’s also going to save you money if your wig lasts for a really long time with little maintenance. With the right routine, a high quality human hair wig can last you a really long time, while keeping it's shine and luster.
